The 800 Meters has been dominated by two athletes in the past three years in California. Alyssa Brewer of California HS won the 2016 and 2017 state meets. At those two meets, Del Oro's Cathilyn McIntosh finished in 2nd place. Last year, McIntosh roared to the state title as she blasted a best of 2:05.22 in the victorious effort. Now that Brewer and McIntosh have both graduated, the athlete that appears to be ready to take over the lead in the two-lap event is Concord senior Rayna Stanziano (Anda Chu photo above). She finished in 3rd place at last year's state meet with a time of 2:09.44 and this past Cross Country season, Stanziano finished in 3rd place in the Division III race with a time of 17:43.8.
