Shelby Tyler Narrows Down Her College Search to 5 Schools

On Tuesday night, Noblesville High School senior Shelby Tyler took to Instagram to announce her top 5 schools. She has narrowed her search down to the schools that best fit her not only athletically but also academically.

Shelby Tyler won the USATF JR Outdoors and competed for Team USA in Finland this past summer. She also traveled to New Balance Nationals a day later and won the high jump there as well. She is also a 2x state champion in the high jump and will come back once more in 2019 to go for her third title.

Her top five are, The University of Georgia, who's girls team just won its first indoor national championship this past season and were 2nd at outdoors, losing by 1 point to USC. Also the same school that former 12x Indiana State Champ, Lynna Irby, attends and competes for currently. Stanford, who took 3rd at the NCAA Outdoor Champs. The University of Oregon, a program with a long standing history of being one of the best in the nation. The University of Tennessee, who's sprint coach, David Neville, was an Indiana State Champ in 2002. So an Indiana connection there. And last but not least, The University of Alabama, where former Indiana pole vault standout Ryan Lipe now attends and competes for the Tide as well.

Tyler has already taken visits to Georgia and Alabama  and will take official visits to the remaining three schools before signing her letter of intent on November 14th. We will be on site for her signing and will bring you updates on her decision as we find them out.
