The Diamondbacks were led by three sophomores up front at last year's state meet, where they finished 5th in Division 2, and that bodes well for 2018. Maribel and Marisol Aguilar are back, as are fellow rising junior Samantha Ulloa and senior Elizabeth Martin, who ran well on the track this spring. I have two concerns about the 2018 Serrano team, though: there is a pretty big drop-off after their top 6 returners, and results from track season weren't really eye-catching. However, some programs don't put as much emphasis on spring competition, and the Diamondbacks have been good at improving from season to season in the recent past. I think the floor for this year's Serrano team is a repeat of last season, and with the experience of this squad they have the potential to be even better.
