Girls #CountdownToXC Day 25: Bishop Amat

Bishop Amat has been a power in Division 4 since moving down from D3 in 2015, with two 2nd-place finishes and a state title in 2016 on their record (and they were 4th in D3 in 2014, to boot!). The Lancers certainly have enough talent to contend again, despite the loss of front-runner Trinity Ruelas (as well as Ally Palomino) to graduation. Olivia Paez will inherit the #1 spot, and it would certainly help her team if she can recover her 2015 XC/2016 track form (she ran 17:11 and 10:50 during a stellar freshman season). The real key to the 2017 season, though, will come from the #4-#7 runners (or beyond). Bishop Amat needs at least two of those runners, or a newcomer, to make the leap and connect with their returning top 3, or else there may be a little drop-off for the Lancers this fall. Unfortunately, there's not much in the way of track times to indicate this progress, but with a strong summer this could still be a team to watch in Division 4.
