As teams navigate the league championship meets, coaches are busy strategizing where to put their best athletes so that they can compete at their very best at the 99th Annual California state meet. The goal for the select few teams that have the fire power to pursue a state team title is to, at the very least, climb on top of the podium at Buchanan. Below, you have an opportunity to vote for the two best teams in state (boys and girls). If you feel like I missed a team, you can certainly vote for other and include your team of choice in the comment section below.
The defending team champions are Vista Murrieta, SS (boys)-photo above courtesy of Kirby Lee (www.imageofsport.com) and Carson, LA (girls). Both teams have the talent to repeat but the question is will they repeat? Tara Davis, Agoura (SS) will score a lot of points on her own but can she carry her team to a state team title by herself like Wendy Brown did for Woodside in 1984? Long Beach Poly (SS) has won numerous state titles and can never be counted out. The Rancho Verde (SS) boys have the ability to score in multiple events which is usually the recipe for a potential podium team.
