2018 Central Coast Section XC Detailed Preview

Division 4 Boys

Teams to Watch (Full Rankings)

The race for the team title appears to be wide open. The very slight favorite might be the Half Moon Bay boys who finished in 2nd place last year behind Pacific Grove. They return four out of their top seven and will once again be led by veteran coach, Paul Farnsworth. Another school that will be in the hunt for a section title will be Sacred Heart Prep. They return their entire lineup from last year's 4th place finishing team. Other teams that will be in contention will be Palma, Pacific Grove, and King City.

Athletes to Watch (Full Rankings)

The race for the individual title should be a good one with lots of individuals in contention. Chris Anderson of San Lorenzo Valley is the top returner from last season and he will have plenty of competition. Palma's Sam Lavorato is a talented senior that has been derailed by some injuries but could be a major contender if healthy. Terra Nova's Elias Sanchez, Pacific Grove's Will Steffanou and Palma's Thomas Padilla will all be in the mix along with the three Sacred Heart Prep runners (Max Cluss, Calvin Katz and Axel Devernou). Menlo's Kamran Murray finished in 6th place at last year's section final and was the top freshman in Northern California.
