Strong showing from CA contingent at Nike Boise Indoor

Defending CIF-State 800-meter champion Jett Charvet (Brentwood Heritage/NC) held off Kyler Spindola (San Jose Lehigh/CC) to win his specialty at the Nike Boise Indoor meet held over the weekend in Nampa, Idaho.

Charvet, a senior, who won the state title last June in Fresno running 1:51.07, clocked 1:54.10 in Idaho, bettering his previous winter best of 1:56.93 posted Jan. 20 at Berkeley.

Charvet's event-best time was one of 11 individual titles won by California athletes at the meet held at Boise State's Jacksons Indoor Track.

Spindola, also a senior, showed off his range by running indoor PRs in the 200 (23.56), 800 (1:56.00) and mile (4:39.00).

Jazlynn Shearer (San Jose Silver Creek/CC) won the 60m Hurdles (9.04 final/9:03 prelims) and the 60-meter dash (7.84). Shearer, a junior, placed second to Silver Creek teammate Arianna Fisher in the long jump and triple jump. Fisher, a senior, went 39-3.25 to win the triple, and 18-1.75 in the long. Shearer went 38-2.25 and 17-1, respectively.

Robert Miranda (Menlo/CC) was a runaway winner in the mile in 4:21.40, more than six seconds ahead of runner-up Nathan Green (YMCA-Team Idaho). Miranda, third at the CIF-State XC Division 4 final in November, and a 3,200 CIF-State meet finalist last June, has an outdoor PR in the mile of 4:14.85.
