13) Maddy Denner and Elena Denner Oak Ridge (SJS) Our next two athletes both participated for the same school and represented the same family. Maddy and Elena Denner had their coming out party at the Stanford Invitational as they chased all-world Claudia Lane in the mile. The previous day, Oak Ridge powered by the Denner twins finished in 2nd place in the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) as they trailed only San Marcos. At the Arcadia Invitational, the Oak Ridge team won the DMR with a national leading 11:49.49. At the California State Track and Field meet, Maddy won the 1600 meters with a personal best of 4:44.89. She doubled back to the 8-lap race to finish in second place with a time of 10:19.18. Sister Elena finished in 4th place with a time of 10:21.44 (she also won SJS meet with a time of 10:14.99).
