#1 Tara Davis Agoura (SS)
When I made this list, it was tough to narrow it down to a chosen few but it was very easy to pick the top performer. Tara Davis Agoura (SS) competed in many events this past season against some of the top track and field competitors in the nation and she never lost. She not only never lost but she dominated and established some of the all-time best marks in her respective events. She was quite busy at the state meet taking on the 100 hurdles, long jump and triple jump. In the hurdles, Davis established a new best mark of 12.83 (+3.7w) which is the fastest performance under any conditions. In the long jump, Davis flew past the 22 foot mark with a new best of 22'1" which is CA #1 and US #3 all-time. In the triple jump, Davis had a better jump in the prelims of 43'4" but left no doubt in the finals with a best of 42'11.75". With the 30 points, Davis paced Agoura to a 2nd place team finish. Only Wendy Brown Woodside (CCS) '84 has won a state title by herself but Davis came as close as you can get as she finished just one point short of Long Beach Poly's victories winning total.
