In a note shared by his coach Bill Pendleton (see below), Esperanza senior thrower Bronson Osborn, could potentially be out for the season. Osborn was the 2016 California state champion in shot put and discus as well as a podium placer at the IAAF World U20 Championship meet during the summer. He just recently broke the California record for the 16lb shot put (video below). Last year, Osborn had a best of 71'7.25" in the shot put which is the 4th best mark in California history. He also threw the discus 204'4" at the Mt. SAC Relays and won his first state title in the discus at Buchanan HS.

"Update: Bronson Osborn hurt his shoulder last Saturday weightlifting ( bench press) . After an MRI today he had surgery to reattach his left pectoral muscle and tendon. It went well and he should get back to 95% of what he had before with the shoulder. It might not seem crucial for a right handed thrower but he has to pull that arm around as he finishes. We won't know for a while whether he can come back at the end of the season, or for the under 20 meet in July or just wait for next season. The priority is his long term health. He doesn't need any sympathy. He had a year last year that anyone would kill for: 2 CIF Championships, 2 state championships and 3rd at the World Under 20 meet ( the top 2 finishers later failed drug tests ). He's looking forward to getting back to doing whatever he can when he can. He is used to adversity. He threw the last 2 seasons with 7 screws and a plate in his ankle.
