The boys triple jump made an appearance in 1939 and returned for good in 1973. Since 1973, the winning jumper has always surpassed the 49 foot mark for his winning effort. Looking at the entrants in this field, there are no jumpers that surpassed that mark at their section final with the closest being Seth Brooks Kingsburg (CE) at 48'11.5". He is also the top returner from last year's meet as the 3rd place finisher. Fellow Central section competitor Dennis Hicks Liberty has the best mark in CA this season at 49'10.5". Morrell Osling Antelope Valley (SS) won the always competitive SS Masters Meet by jumping 48'8" and has a season best of 49'3.75"w. Isaiah Holmes (more in him under high jump) Oakmont (SJS) won the SJS Masters Meet with 47'11.5". The other jumper in the field who has also cleared 49 feet is Jah Strange Xavier Prep (SS). He won the Desert Valley League Final with a 49'1" effort.
