Qualifying Meets for Winter Track Championship Start Saturday!

Isaac Cortes is fired up for the Winter Track Championships qualifying to begin. Are you ready?

Although the Run for the Dream is taking the year off, there is still something to compete for in California this winter. (I mean, besides pride and improvement, which are always there!). The California Winter Championships will be held on February 13th at Cerritos College. Sponsored by VS Athletics and Finished Results, the meet will allow qualifiers to finish their off-season training with a championship-level competition experience, and it helps to fill the void left by the temporary loss of our California's unofficial indoor track state championship.

Qualifying for the Winter Track Championships starts this Saturday, through a series of approved outdoor meets similar to the regular All-Comers meets that are so prevalent in our state. As the unofficial season progresses, we'll keep track of these performances in our database through the "polar bear" designation, which also puts them into the national rankings alongside outdoor meets from other states that do have official indoor track seasons. Of course, we will also keep up with separate rankings for the true indoor performances by Golden State athletes, including the Simplot Games and New Balance Nationals Indoor.
