Norco, CA - The PR City Invitational Elite race delivered a performance-packed showdown, with 23 athletes breaking the 15-minute barrier over the three-mile distance. 

Leading the way was Aidan Antonio (Woodbridge HS), who powered to the individual title in 14:06.80, establishing himself as the class of the field while also helping the Warriors capture the Elite team championship. Antonio's performance headlined an impressive showing from Woodbridge, but the team race came down to the wire.

Woodbridge Holds Off Beckman

Arnold O. Beckman pushed Woodbridge throughout the race, ultimately finishing just two points behind the Warriors in the team standings. The narrow margin made Beckman the runner-up team in the Elite race, setting the stage for one of the closest team battles of the invitational. With both squads placing multiple athletes near the front third of the field, Woodbridge's depth proved just enough to secure the team title in a race that ultimately came down to just two points.

Fleck Leads San Diego Section

The first athlete from outside the Southern Section to cross the finish line was Kellan Fleck of La Costa Canyon, representing the San Diego Section. Fleck finished in 15:20.00, placing himself among the top performers in a loaded field. His performance gave the Mavericks and the San Diego Section a strong presence in an otherwise Southern Section-dominated field.

We RUN LA Invitational

Los Angeles, CA - Mira Costa put on a display of team depth at the We RUN LA Invitational, placing all five of its scorers inside the Top 10 finishers of the Varsity race and cruising to the team championship.

Leading the charge for the Mustangs was Killian Cistone, who clocked the fastest time of the day, followed closely by teammate Sean Liu, giving Mira Costa a powerful 1-2 finish and immediately establishing the Mustangs at the front of the race.

Mira Costa Dominance

Mira Costa's success didn't stop with its front two. The Mustangs placed all five scoring runners among the Top 10 finishers, creating a nearly unmatched scoring advantage and showcasing the depth of a program capable of putting its entire scoring lineup near the front of a competitive Varsity field. With Cistone and Liu leading the way, Mira Costa controlled the team race from the front while its remaining scorers continued to rack up low placements.

The most impressive takeaway from the Mustangs' performance, however, might have come from beyond its top five.

Once results were merged, it was clear that the Mustangs' top two finishers in the Open race both ran faster than their sixth- and seventh-place runners in the Varsity race. That level of depth gives Mira Costa an enormous amount of firepower beyond its scoring lineup and provides the program with multiple athletes capable of stepping into key varsity roles as the season progresses.

Loyola Takes Runner-Up

Meet hosts Loyola finished as the team runner-up, earning the second-place spot in the Varsity team standings.

While Loyola held onto the runner-up position, Mira Costa's combination of front-end talent and depth proved to be the defining storyline of the meet.

Cistone Leads the Day

At the center of the Mustangs' performance was Cistone, whose 15:00.30 was not only enough to win the Varsity race but also stood as the fastest three-mile performance of the entire meet.

With a 1-2 finish, five runners inside the Top 10, and significant depth waiting behind them, Mira Costa emerged from the We RUN LA Invitational looking like one of the deepest programs in the Southern Section.

Oakmont Invite

Rocklin, CA - David Coisson (Galena HS) led the way at the Oakmont Invite, capturing the Varsity individual title and powering Galena High School to the team title. Coisson's victory headlined a strong overall performance from the Grizzlies, who placed three scorers inside the Top 10 and showed impressive consistency throughout their scoring lineup.

Galena's Depth Delivers

Galena's team strength was evident beyond its front three. The Grizzlies produced just a 1:11 gap between their first and fifth scorers, keeping their scoring pack rather tight, thus limiting the amount of ground their opponents could gain. That combination of front-end talent and a compact scoring spread ultimately proved enough to secure the team title.

Jesuit Pushes Galena

California powerhouse Jesuit put together a strong challenge, but the Marauders ultimately came up just short, falling 86-72 to Galena in the team standings.

Despite missing out on the team title, Jesuit emerged as the top California team at the invitational, turning in a performance that kept the out-of-state Grizzlies within reach. Jesuit created significant separation from the rest of the California field, building a 75-plus-point cushion over third-place and section rival Oak Ridge.

Fast Times Over Rare Distances

The Oakmont Invite produced an exceptionally quick front pack. Every athlete finishing inside the Top 20 during the Varsity race maintained a sub-5:00-per-mile pace over the scarcely raced 4K distance, highlighting the depth and quality of the field. Matthew Ogilvie (Jesuit HS), who was the top Californian and the runner-up overall in the Varsity race, put up a 4:42/mile average over the 4K distance.
