Some of the nations and states top distance runners highlight the 29th Annual Mt. Carmel/Moving Shoes XC Invite this Saturday at Morley Field.
Top teams as well as individuals will compete in 16 races starting at 8:30 am. Boys run 2.95 and girls 2.75 on the demanding Morley Field Cross Country Course.
Four returning meet course record holders will return from last year. Locals Molly Grabill of Rancho Bernardo and Megan Morgan from Torrey Pines set or tied course records last year. On the boys side, returning D-2 State Champion Elias Gedyon from Loyola and super frosh Luis Gutierrez from Rancho Cucamonga also set grade level course records.
Many of the states top teams will compete. Defending Boys and Girls State Champions Dana Hills, D-2 State Boys Champs Loyola, and D-4 State Girls Champions La Reina are among the highlighters. State Powers Poway and Torrey Pines will also be there with local strong teams from Cathedral Catholic, Mt. Carmel, Valley Center, and Coronado will be there.
Strong out of town competition will be evident as 18 schools from other parts of California, Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado will bring athletes.
