Boys Preview: This years national final features new faces and names as a new champion will be crowned. The top ten from a year ago are all gone opening the door for hopefuls from across the country. Headlining the boys favorites is Minnesota transfer Jakub Zivec who recently placed 2nd at the NXN National Championships after dominating the Footlocker Midwest Region Championships. After running the entire season in J.V. races, Zivec, a native of the Czech Republic, travels to Balboa Park as one of the favorites. Footlocker South individual champion Bill Matthews and runner-up Matt Sonnenfeldt (read: Running Journal)will lead the pack of national champion hopefuls. Keep an eye on Maryland seniors Solomon Haile, Northeast Region Champion, and Chris Schwartz, West Region Champion, as they are definite darkhorses who could emerge victorious. Alaska native Trevor Dunbar, who qualified 3rd at the West Region Championship is a dominant force, we expect the Kodiak senior to finish in the top 10.
