Additional InformationThe Golden West Invitational Track & Field Meet , first held in 1960, is the oldest prep invitational meet in the U.S. It brings together top high school athletes from throughout the country and provides them with the very highest levels of competition.
The 55th Annual Golden West Invitational returns to Sacramento in 2014! It will be held in conjunction with the 2014 USA National Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 26-29.
Date: Saturday, June 28.
Location: Hornet Stadium, California State University Sacramento
Times: 3:30 pm to 9 pm, immediately following the National Meet events (9 am to 3 pm).
No entry standards are required to enter.
GWI accepts high school athletes and Juniors.
Juniors are athletes who have yet reached 20 years of age on June 28, 2014.
GWI provides a perfect opportunity for athletes seeking to qualify for and/or train for both the US National Junior Track & Field Championships (July 5-6, Eugene, OR) or the IAAF World Junior Track & Field Championships (July 22-27, Eugene, OR).
No event standards are required to enter.

Hornet Stadium (capacity 21,195) is also the home of the 2014 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 26-29. The Golden West Invitational is being held as a part of this meet on Saturday, June 28 from 3:30 pm until 9 pm.
Site of the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Trials for Track & Field, Hornet Stadium has recently hosted several prominent track & field events, including the 2011 World Masters Championships, 2010 USA Masters Championships, 2010 USA Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships, and 1995 USA Outdoor Championships. Sacramento also has been home to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Site of record attendance during the Olympic Trials, the stadium has undergone significant upgrades since the 2004 Olympic Trials including new public entrances, resurfacing of the infield and track, and a new scoreboard.
