Teams to Watch

The competition is much closer among the D3 girls teams than it was for the boys. Chico is the defending section champion, and the Panthers also lead the returning rankings despite graduating four runners from their 2014 squad. But Shasta is close enough to be a threat, and the Wolves return 6 of their top 7 while surely looking to move up from last year's 3rd-place finish. Red Bluff is within striking range, and the Spartans can certainly challenge Shasta for second if they can't get to first.

Team Rankings: 3 Mile - 5000m

Athletes to Watch (Individual Rankings)

Celeste Wilson (Chico) is the top D3 returner in the section, and she could be a threat to break 19 minutes for the 5K this fall. Miranda Avalos leads Shasta, while the three Renfroe sisters power Red Bluff, with Naomi in front. Nicole Dully (Pleasant Valley) had a strong finish to the 2014 season, which could be a springboard to a strong 2015. Finally, Belle Moran's move from Redding Christian to Foothill makes her a threat, especially based on the strong track times she posted.

Individual Rankings: 3 Mile - 5000m
