Emma Abrahamson blazed the last 100 meters rolling from the final turn off a slow strategic race, while Nathan Rodriguez led wire to wire for both to win the invitational high school mile races at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday and earn automatic invites to the Brooks PR Invitaitonal mile races on June 21st.

Great Oak senior runner Haley Dorris won this past Monday's CA state indoor 2 mile run with a stunning time of 10:21.52. Her previous personal record (PR) was 10:54.89 at the CIF SS Prelims last track season. It was discovered shortly after the race that an official had incorrectly counted the laps and Dorris, Kimberly Coscia of South Torrance (10:22.13) and the rest of the field had run one lap short. Despite the error, Dorris would have easily dipped under the previous meet record of 11:06.75 by Carlmont's Jessie Petersen had she continued one more lap. Her time would have also been around her PR which is quite impressive during February on an 145 meter track. She is also coming off an impressive XC season as she helped lead her Great Oak teammates to another CA XC state Division I championship (3rd in 4 years) with her 7th place finish (17:34 at Woodward Park). Their team time was the 2nd fastest time ever run on the state meet course (89:28) trailing only the 2010 Saugus team with their 89:25. Dorris has now made it official that she signed with University of San Francisco.
