Hasay kicks off outdoor season with US leading 4:47 1600 Mar 31, 2009

Jordan Hasay began her final high school outdoor season on Saturday at the San Luis Obispo County Meet and the Mission Prep (California) senior turned in a US #1 time of 4:47.05 in the 1600 meter run to drop 3 seconds from the previous national leading performance. It was not the first track race in 2009 for Hasay though as she competed in her first indoor race several weeks ago with a 10:10.89 victory in the two mile run at the Nike Indoor Nationals in Boston. Hasay will certainly have her eyes set on chasing national records this spring in the 1600 (mile) and 3200 (2 mile) meter run, while already holding the US high school record in the 1500 meter run (4:14.50) and currently ranked #2 all-time in the 3200 meter run (9:52.13)
