New England Runners Ready for Footlocker Finals Stephen Mazzone Dec 5, 2012

With mostly sunny skies and 70-degree weather year round, San Diego is considered one of the best places in the U.S. to kick back and relax.   But while the forecast looks promising this Saturday for another stellar day at “America’s Finest City,” a little R & R will be the furthest thing on the minds of some of the best high school runners in the country as they invade the city’s Balboa Park for the annual Foot Locker Cross-Country Championships. It will be all business for the 40 boys and 40 girls that have qualified for the national competition, a field that features four gifted harriers from New England.

  The talk of the town when athletes first arrived Saturday morning was the course change.  Due to high amounts of rain that fell Friday, course officials decided to use their alternate road course.  Despite a change in course none of the top athletes let that affect them.MileSplit Coverage: Foot Locker West Regional

Keino and Kiernan earn All-American honors at Foot Locker Nationals!!! MileSplit Staff Dec 14, 2002

Virginia\'s two representatives at Foot Locker Nationals in Fork Union senior Kippy Keino in the boys\' race and The Potomac School senior Cara Kiernan had two remarkable runs in San Diego as both took home for Virginia two All-American honors. Keino finished 15th with a time of 15:22 to round out the south region\'s pack of six All-Americans as the region took second overall behind the midwest region. Kiernan continues to amaze in her first year of running as she ran a personal best time of 18:02 to take 14th overall in the race and was the top finishing girl from the south region. Congratulations to Kippy Keino and Cara Kiernan for one giving us one exciting fall of cross country racing!
