Women’s Indoor Track and Field Competes at Albany Great Dane Classic
Final Results
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Junior Jasmine Bien-Aime (Cambridge, Mass.) posted a NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 60 meters to pace the efforts of the Southern Connecticut State University women's indoor track and field team at the Albany Great Dane Classic on Friday.
The Owls finished 19th as a team at the competition, one that included the likes of Connecticut, Villanova, Rutgers, George Mason, Cal-State Northridge and Youngstown State. SCSU was one of just three Division II programs to take part in the competition.
Bien-Aime finished 13th in the 60 meters with a time of 7.80 seconds. She was also 12th in the 200 meters with a time of 25.35.
The highest individual finish of the day went to sophomore
Michelle Grecni (Danbury, Conn.), who was third in the pole vault with a leap of 3.75 meters. Senior
Meghan Nicolletta (East Hampton, Conn.) also placed 14th in that event, clearing a height of 3.15 meters.
Elizabeth Bashir (Colchester, Conn.) was 15th in the weight throw with a toss of 42 feet, 3.25 inches and 16th in the shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 3.75 inches.
The 4x400 relay team of Bien-Aime,
Brittany Niemczyk (Vernon, Conn.),
Rachel Van Gilder (Enfield, Conn.) and
Marvline Carter (Bloomfield, Conn.) finished 13th with a time of 4:05.79.
Niemczyk also placed 23rd in the 400 meters (59.70).
Nicole Strauss (Shelton, Conn.) and
Sarah Vaughan (Hamden, Conn.) both took part in the 3000 meters. Strauss placed 21st (10:53.07), while Vaughan was 26th (11:24.65).
Carter also placed 37th in both the 60 meter hurdles and 400 meters.
