Massey first qualified in the discus in a dominant fashion. She launched her first throw to 182-4 feet, which virtually sealed her victory from the start. However, that didn't stop Massey from rocketing herself into the history books, as she threw 197-9 feet on her sixth and final throw.
That mark strengthens her U.S. #2 throw of all time and passes Sidney Vaughn's U.S. high school #2 all-time throw of 197-1 ft. Massey and Vaughn own the top 5 farthest throws in U.S. high school history.

On Friday, Massey's domination continued in the shot put. After fouling her first throw, she jumped into the lead with a 53-0.75 foot throw on her second attempt. No one was able to challenge Massey throughout the six attempts, but she still managed to challenge the history books, similar to the discus. Massey threw a personal record of 55-4.75 on her fifth attempt, which moves her to U.S. #5 all-time in high school history.
These historic throws and wins at the USATF U20 Championships not only solidify Massey's undefeated season in California but also demonstrate her readiness to compete in the NCAA as an Oregon Duck next season.
