10. Braelyn Combe Stays Untouchable
Braelyn Combe extended her win streak over Californian athletes to 20 after sweeping the CIF-SS Masters 1600m and 800m races. She cruised to her 1600m victory with a 4:43.03 and easily pulled away from the 800m field to run 2:06.04. At the CIF State Championships, she's entered in the 1600m and 800m and is a member of the 4x800m relay team.
9. Stringer and Malloy Trade Big Triple Jump Marks
California's #1 and #2 triple jumpers, Dane Malloy (48-5) and Arthur Stringer (48-3), only needed two jumps to qualify for the CIF State Championships next week. On Stringer's first jump, he secured the state auto qualifier with a leap of 47-4.5, while Malloy soared to 47-2.25 on his second jump to secure his spot.
8. Davis Benson Leads Moorpark to Several State Qs in Front of Home Crowd
Davis Benson qualified for state in the long jump, 110m hurdles, high jump, and as Moorpark's 4x100m relay anchor. His energy helped propel several Moorpark athletes to qualify in front of the home crowd, including Dean Guzman (High Jump), Gianna Gonzalez (Moorpark), Jalen Aguilar-Carnes (100m & 200m), and Camilla Peltonen (200m & 400m), as well as the girls' 4x4 relay and the boys' 4x4 relay.
7. Malia Rainey Sweeps CIF-SS Finals and Masters 100m
Make it two wins and two PRs for Malia Rainey to crown her the CIF Southern Section 100m Queen. At the CIF Southern Section Masters, Rainery ran a personal record of 11.33 (+2.2w) to win the 100m after winning the CIF-SS D3 Finals last week with the fastest time in the state.
6. Cassidy Nyguen Reclaims Girls' Pole Vault State Lead
Cassidy Nguyen retook state-lead in the pole vault with a 13-2 leap and victory. Nguyen was perfect throughout her entire series, improving on her previous best of 13-0 at the Mt. SAC Relays. She even made three attempts at 13-5 but was unsuccessful, ending her day.

The elusive nine-minute barrier in the 3200m is becoming more pedestrian, as nine boys went under the mark to achieve the state auto-qualifier time. Looking back at the past four years, a total of nine boys have gone under the 9-minute barrier, and this year's 2026 edition has amazingly tied that mark. Freshman Sterling White capitalized on the historic California 3200m field, breaking the 53-year-old California Freshman record set by Eric Hulst at 9:01.1. White ran 8:59.26, becoming the first Californian freshman to break nine minutes and to qualify for the CIF State Championship.
2. Clara Adams Joins Elite 400m Company
The all-star 400m runner, Clara Adams, placed herself in elite company by running 51.98 to win the CIF-SS Masters 400m. Adams joins an elite club of seven Californians who have run the 400m under 52 seconds. That ties her for the fourth-fastest time in the country this year.

After the Long Beach Wilson quartet of Clara Adams, Saniah Varnado, Brooklyn Fowler, and Brooke Blue qualified for state in the open 400m, they demolished the 4x400m relay state record. Varnado anchored the Bruins to a 3:33.83 to break the previous state record of 3:35.59 by Long Beach Poly in 2004. Montverde Academy and Bullis School, both from 2024, are the only high school teams to have run faster than Long Beach Wilson in U.S. high school history.
