The CIF State Track and Field Championships are a week away, and several athletes across the Golden State are ready to peak at the right time before their Section Championships or Masters Meet, which will qualify them for State. Listed below are the top athletes making noise ahead of their final section qualifying meet.
Sprints
Calabasas girls Malia Rainey (11.41), Marley Scoggins (11.43), and Olivia Kirk (11.44) ran the three fastest 100m times, sweeping the CIF-SS Girls Division 3 Finals.
Naiaja Sizemore (Vanden) ran a wind-legal season-best of 11.47 in the 100m dash to win the CIF-SJS Girls Division 3 Finals.
Gabrielle Thomas (Grossmont) ran 14.00 in the 100m hurdles to win the CIF-SDS Division 1 Championships, having run a personal record of 13.69 the previous week.
Saniah Varnado (Long Beach Wilson) ran a personal record of 41.27 in the 300m hurdles to win the CIF-SS Girls Division 1 Finals, making her CA #2.
Isabel Garcia (Holtville) improved on her previous best of 43.55 in the 300m hurdles, running a personal record of 42.34 to win the CIF-SDS Girls Division 3 Championships.
Benjamin Harris (Servite) swept the CIF-SS Boys Division 3 finals in the 100m (10.18 - +2.8w) and 200m (20.51 - +2.5w), posting the two fastest times in the state last week.
Deshawn Seymour Jr. (Will C. Wood) ran a wind-aided PR of 10.22 to win the CIF-SJS Boys Division 3 title.
Cy Lugo (Elk Grove) swept the CIF-SJS Boys Division 1 finals in the 100m and 200m with an impressive personal record of 20.67.
Donovan Dunmore (Buchanan) dominated the Central Section Boys Division 1 100m, setting a personal record of 10.29, ranking CA #5.
At the CIF Southern Section Finals, Jaelen Hunter (46.36, Servite), Ejam Yohannes (46.70, Loyola), and Kaedyn Burroughs (46.90, Long Beach Wilson) ran the fastest 400m times in the state last week.
Ayden Parker (Doughtery Valley) won the NCS Tri-Valley Area Championship in the boys' 400m by almost two seconds, clocking 46.92, his third sub-47 of the season.
Brandon Andrade - 36.63 (Etiwanda) and Kingston Penny - 36.94 (Palm Desert) ran the fastest 300m hurdles times in the state at the CIF-SS Divisional Finals.
Distance
Braelyn Combe (Santiago) swept the 800m (2:07) and 1600m (4:41) at the CIF-SS Girls Division 1 Finals, posting the fastest times in the state.
Ava Padilla (Monte Vista) and Claire Andrzejek (Campolindo) had a great battle at the NCS Tri-Valley Area meet, separated by 2-hundredths of a second in the 800m at 2:10.
Chiara Dailey (La Jolla) pushed Elliana Patterson (Christian) and Ariella Llorens (Francis Parker) under 10:30 in the 3200m, with final times of 10:15, 10:19, and 10:27.
Amaya Bharadwaj (Palo Alto) ran 10:30 to win the 3200m at the Central Coast Championships by over 30 seconds.
Reese Holley (JSerra Catholic) swept the 1600m and 800m at the CIF-SS Girls Division 3, with times of 2:09 and 4:48 (PR).
Eight boys from the CIF Southern Section Division Finals ran under 4:10 in the 1600m, including Maximo Zavaleta - 4:04 (ML King), Aidan Antonio - 4:05 (Woodbridge), Vin Krueger - 4:06 (Oaks Christian), Krish Desai - 4:07 (Mira Costa), Jace Deledonne - 4:07 (Riverside Poly), Stephen Sziebert - 4:07 (Bellarmine Prep), Jonah Vasquez - 4:08 (Cathedral), Michael Scarince - 4:08 (South Pasadena), and Blake Sigworth - 4:09 (Palos Verdes).

Jaslene Massey (Aliso Niguel) extends her undefeated discus and shot put win streak to 13 at the CIF-SS Division Finals.
Freshman Journey Scott (Murrietta Mesa) threw a personal-best 45-8.5 feet in the shot put to win the CIF-SS Girls Division 1 title.
Corinne Jones (41-3.5) and Kira Gant Hatcher (40-0.5) of St. Mary's College had an epic duel in the CIF-NCS Bay Area to sweep the triple jump.
Joshua Harel (Notre Dame - Sherman Oaks) leaped over 7-1 to win the CIF-SS Boys Division 3 Finals High Jump, taking the state lead.
Naryan Banerjee (Jesuit) won the CIF-SJS Boys Division 1 High Jump in a personal record of 6-10.
Dane Malloy (Aliso Niguel) won the CIF-SS Boys Division 1 Long Jump in a personal record of 49-0.75 to dominate the competition.
