All five of these boys are capable of running in the 1600m CIF State Track and Field Championship finals later this May, but they will need to compete in the CIF-SS Divisional Championships and CIF-SS Masters.

Welcome to CA's 100m Elite, Dylan Thomas
The junior from El Segundo fell under the radar this season, but the DIII CIF Southern Section Prelims have possibly been a breakthrough performance. Dylan Thomas ran the fastest 100m of the meet at 10.41, beating Servite's contingent, and he ran the second-fastest 200m at 20.92. Last year, he couldn't advance past the CIF Southern Section Prelims, but now he'll enter the Divisional Championships as a contender.
400m Schools Flex
At Division 1 prelims, the Long Beach Wilson girls flexed their 400m prowess once again, with the four fastest 400m times at the meet led by sophomore Brooklyn Fowler. At the Division 2 prelims, the Canyon Country girls also flexed their 400m muscle, posting the three fastest times of the meet, highlighted by the return of Lyric Scott, who is competing in only her third meet of the season. While Long Beach Wilson boasts a legendary 4x400m team, Canyon Country could be developing into something special, capable of challenging the Bruins at the CIF-SS Masters meet.

Davis Benson Wins 3 Events at D3
At the CIF-SS Division 2 Championships, Davis Benson won two field events and one running event to advance to the championships. As a CIF State Finalist in the high jump, there's no surprise that Benson rose to the occasion to win the high jump and long jump this year. His win in the 110m hurdles exemplifies his growth into an elite hurdler, as he set a new personal record of 14.11.
Calabasas Girls Sweep 100m
After dominating the 4x100m relay at the CIF-SS D3 prelims, Calabasas captured places 1-4 in the 100m dash, demonstrating their excellence in the event. As much as these girls are a threat in the relay, they're a force to be reckoned with in every individual event they enter.
