The Middle School season is officially underway, as the club track and field meets begin producing remarkable times across the state. Every April, the Pacific Coast Shockwaves Invitational is always a highlight on the calendar, where the top athletes in California come to set new benchmarks for themselves. This year was no different, as various athletes delivered outstanding performances to start the long season.
Micah Streadbeck (New Era Elite) | 1500m - 4:18.55 | 400m runner up- 53.19
The current AAU 12u champion in both the 1500m and 800m showed exactly why he earned those national titles last season at the Pacific Coast Shockwaves Invite. After finishing second to his teammate in the 400m, Micah Streadbeck came back to win a closely contested 1500m with a personal best of 4:18.55.
Noel Titus (New Era Elite) | 200m - 23.28 | 400m - 52.90
Two victories and one personal record were a great Saturday for Noel Titius, who is starting his outdoor season undefeated. He improved from 24.29 last season to 23.28 in the 200m to win a stacked 100m heat in the 13-14 division.
Brooklyn Pearman (Audience of One) | 200m- 24.99 | 400m- 56.66
On Saturday, Pearman broke two barriers in the 400m and 200m to secure highlight victories in both events. First in the 400m, she broke 57 seconds for the first time, running 56.66 to win. Then in the 200m, she won by 7-hundredths of a second, going under 25 for the first time at 24.99.
Sofia Wroblewski (Quick Track Club) | 3000m - 10:23.70 | 1500m - 4:43.70
No one doubted Sofia Wroblewski last weekend, as she secured double victories in the 3000m and 1500m. She ran an impressive 10:23.70 season opener in the 3000m and claimed a convincing win in the 1500m with a time of 4:43.70.
Mark Batres III (Claremont Nighthawks) | 3000m - 9:17.53 | 800m - 2:09.23 | 1500m - 4:19.92
Last weekend was exhausting but fulfilling for Mark Batres, who secured a 3000m win and finished second twice. He set personal records in the 3000m (9:17.53), 1500m (2:09.23), and 800m (2:09.23), demonstrating he's in the best shape of his life to start the season.
Jasmine Wilson (Black Lightning) | 100m - 12.22 | 200m - 25.06
After stellar performances during the winter season against high schoolers, Jasmine Wilson delivered an excellent performance last weekend. Wilson ran 12.22 to win the 100m and 25.06 to narrowly finish as the runner-up in the 200m.
Josiah Nwosu (Jacobs Pro Speed) | 100m - 11.46 | 200m - 25.38
Josiah Nwosu is looking impressive as an eighth grader! In his first club meet of the year, he won the 100m in a personal best of 11.46 and the 200m in a personal best of 25.38.
Khyrie Provost (G1 Track and Field) | LJ - 18-7 | 100m- 12.02 | 200m- 24.61
Khyrie Provost excelled in three track events with strong performances in the 100m and 200m, but his top performance of the weekend came in the long jump. He jumped 18-7 in the long jump, making it one of the best marks in the nation and only half a foot short of his personal best.
Xoe Carter (Falcon Track) | LJ- 16-4.25 | 100mH- 16.78 | 100m- 13.02 | 200m- 26.88
Last weekend, Xoe Carter competed in four events and won the long jump, her best performance. She jumped a personal record of 16-4.25 in the long jump, which was only .75 feet away from her previous best.
