Initially, Jace Deledonne led the race until Maximo Zavaleta took the lead after the first 100 meters, aiming to win his fourth straight 1600m invitational race. At that point, Zavaleta started pulling away from the pack, with Jace Deledonne, Cooper Stream, and Krish Desai trailing behind. 

Both Stream and Zavaleta surged ahead in the final 500 meters, turning it into a head-to-head race to the finish. Stream finally made a push in the last 100 meters to gain a half-step advantage, but Zavaleta responded in the very last 5 meters to secure the win. 

The UCLA commit, Maximo Zavaleta, clocked 4:06.02 to win by just one-hundredth of a second over Cooper Stream. Krish Desai finished third with a new personal best of 4:08, ahead of Jace Deledonne at 4:09. Sophomore Elijah Medina from Redlands East Valley moved up four spots in the last lap to finish fourth with a new personal record of 4:10.
