There are no lone Sharks at Santiago High School! At The TEN, Braelyn Combe and Nicole Samson pushed themselves to reach the top 10 nationally ranked 800m times to sweep the HOKA 800m.

Braelyn Combe led the race from the gun, following the pace lights set at 2:04, which would be a five-second personal record. Nicole Samson followed her through the first 400m at 62 seconds, only one second behind Combe. In the last 200m, it looked like practice at Santiago High School in Corona High School as the two Sharks sprinted through the line with no one else in contention.

What made this race special was the reactions from both ladies when they crossed the line. First, Combe was smiling ear-to-ear when she saw a 5-second PR of 2:04, then she yelled in excitement when she realized Samson finished right behind her. Samson also beat her personal record by 5 seconds, which she most recently set at the New Balance Indoor Nationals.

Last season, these two were part of Santiago's CIF State-winning 4x800m relay team that broke the California record. With these huge improvements, the sky may be the limit for the Sharks this spring.
