Athletes to Watch
Braelyn Combe (Santiago) - Fresh off a Nike Indoor National title in the 1600m, Combe returns to The TEN 800m, where she could take aim at her 2:09 personal best set at this meet last year
Maximo Zavaleta (Martin Luther King) - Entered in both the 1600m and 3200m, Zavaleta is a major threat in whichever events he contests. He currently leads the state in the 1600m and ranks No. 3 in California in the 3200m.
Cooper Stream (Vacaville) - Coming off a win in the 3200m at the Dublin Distance Fiesta, the reigning CIF State Division II cross country champion now turns his focus to a fast 1600m.
Charlotte Hopkins (Arcadia) - One of the top returning 3200m runners in the state (10:07 PB), Hopkins will step down to the 1600m on Saturday, where her 4:48 personal best makes her a clear contender.
Krish Desai (Mira Costa) - Desai has opened his season in strong form, running 8:59 in the 3200m and 1:52 in the 800m. Now, all eyes turn to what he can produce in the 1600m this weekend.
Aidan Antonio (Woodbridge) - A CIF State 1600m finalist last season, Antonio kicked off his year with a 4:15. Saturday marks his first attempt at the 3200m this season.
JSerra Catholic Girls - On their home track, the distance powerhouse will be tough to overlook. Chloe Elbaz (800m), Maya Pawlowicz (1600m), and Reese Holley (1600m) have all opened their season impressively.
