The 2025 cross country season promises to be a special one, and Week 1 delivered with fast times across the entire state. In California, 2-mile courses usually dominate the headlines as runners ease into the season, and this year was no exception as it produced some incredible performances.
Emma Alba of Arnold O. Beckman (11:32.50) and Olivia Campos of Mt. Carmel (11:40.20) led the way at two prominent invitationals this past weekend. The sophomore and senior not only demonstrated their individual talent but are also leading strong squads that could very well be in the championship conversation.
The fastest 2-mile mark of the weekend came at the Rio Mesa Hoka Postal 2 Mile from Delaney Napierala of Oaks Christian. The senior clocked 10:44.30, a time even faster than her 3200m personal best from track season.
