Fort Worth Country Day's Rachel Nelson Has Big Goals

Rachel Nelson poses after winning the 2022 SPC 100m championship

The goal is simple: help Fort Worth Country Day stand atop the podium at the SPC Championships, and along the way, capture the 100-meter record, currently listed as 11.76 by Kinkaid's Kennedy Gamble in 2017. In fact, Gamble also holds the SPC's 200-meter record, 23.96 in 2018.

Rachel Nelson, Stanford signee, is the SPC's top returning female sprinter in the 100, 200 and 400. Titles in the 100 and 200 would mean a three-peat in those events. With Sutton Howard's prowess in the throws (Oklahoma State signee) and healthy depth for the relays, FWCD should make a push for the podium.

Strategically avoiding the indoor season this year after last year's track season stretched from indoor deep into the summer, Nelson is relaxed, healthy and ready to be a team leader. This should make for a memorable senior seas
