Dario Rock, a senior at St. Francis (SS), after dropping the fastest qualifying time of 8.38 across three heats (0.24 faster than the rest of the 21-runner field) at the CA Winter Champs, went even faster in the final, running 8.22 into a 0.6 wind to beat Crean (SS) senior Jack Fairchild (8.53).
In recognition of his accomplishments, Rock was voted as MileSplitCA's Boys Track and Field Performer of the Week for the period ending Jan. 29, receiving 69.67 percent of nearly 10,000 votes in a statewide poll. Menlo School (CC) junior Justin Pretre was second with 27.02 percent of the vote.
