In addition to coverage, we've already provided from weekend invitationals Gateway to Track & Field, Orange County Championships, and Sound Running open meet, here's an overview of additional standout performances from invitationals across the state last weekend. 


INLAND EMPIRE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The all-day, double-session IE Champs at Vista Murrieta produced a CA-best shot put mark by Cade Moran, a junior at Murrieta Mesa (SS), whose PR throw of 62-4.50 leapfrogs the 61-0 of previous state leader Nick Godbehere (Shafter/CS), also a junior, and ranks U.S. No. 15. Moran also won the discus (170-07). 

Darius Hill, a senior at Vista Murrieta (SS) won the long jump with a best of 23-0.50 to move up to CA No. 6. Hill, already tied for the state lead in the high jump at 6-9, won that event with a best of 6-7. 

Raykiyat Olukoju, a junior at JW North, ran the state's seventh-fastest 200m, 24.58 (0.9), and she also PR'd in the 100 (12.06) in placing second to winner Naomi Johnson, a junior at Roosevelt, ran 11.98 (1.7). Johnson placed second in the 200 (24.80).

Johnson also took part in the Roosevelt girls 4x100 relay team improved to 47.12, CA No. 5, in holding off North, which crossed in 47.60, CA No. 9. The Murrieta Mesa boys 4x400 relay team went 3:25.87 to rank CA No. 10. 

The Browne sisters at JW North went 1-2 in the 800 with MacKenzie Browne, a sophomore, getting the win in 2:15.40 and Makayla Browne, a senior, next in 2:16.18.


GRANADA DISTANCE & SPRINT FESTIVAL

This very chill event at Granada (NC) HS in Livermore, offered tie-dyed festival t-shirts to all section winners and there were plenty in the meet that offered distance events in the morning and sprint events in the afternoon, concluding with the 100/110-meter hurdles. 

Field events overlapped the track schedule producing a CA No. 7 best in the boys long jump by Cole Muller, a senior at California (NC), who had a best of 22-11.50, and Alexis Hunt, a sophomore at Maria Carrillo (NC), who moved into a tie for the state lead with a 5-6 clearance in the high jump. 

Jad Khansa, a senior at Amador Valley (NC), was a double winner in the throws, taking the title in the discus with a 161-07 PR, and also winning the shot (51-06). 

Jessica Chisar, a sophomore at College Park (NC), won the 800 (2:16.74) and placed second in the 400 (59.45). Both times are personal bests for Chisar.


GATEWAY TO TRACK & FIELD

In placing second in the pole vault at the invitational held at Clovis East HS, Cyprus Rice, a senior at Clovis North (CS) improved to 15-9, tied for second among CA leaders. Bo Olsen, a senior at Buchanan (CS), dropped a 1:53.10 PR for 800m as part of an 800/3200 double. His two-lap time ranks CA No. 4. 

Also at the Gateway meet held Friday at Clovis East HS, Clovis High sophomore Chris Caudillo's 4:11.59 effort for 1600m ranks CA No. 5, Buchanan senior Lauren Fowler's 24.41 (0.1) winning time in the 200m ranks CA No. 4, Buchanan sophomore Sydney Sundgren's 4:51.84 winning time for 1600m ranks CA No. 7 while runner-up Miliana Perez, a junior at Clovis North, was a narrow second in a CA No. 8-time of 4:52.07, and Buchanan's girls went 3:58.23 in the 4x400 relay to rank CA No. 7.

But the race of that meet was the boys 200m, where, aided by a 2.7 meters-per-second wind, the Fresno Central trio of Jeremiah Walker, Cameron Tarver and Imari Conley ran the all-conditions CA Nos. 1, 2 and 9 times. Walker, a junior, won in 21.20, Tarver, also a junior, was second in 21.27, and Conley, a sophomore, was third in 21.57. Also, De La Salle (NC) senior Paul McCants placed fourth in a CA. No. 10-time of 21.59.  

Conley and McCants went 1-2 in the 10mm, with Conley's winning time of 10.65 (0.9) ranking CA No. 8 and McCants crossing in 10.66 for CA No. 10. 


ORANGE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS

A couple of rankings notes from the meet held Saturday at Mission Viejo HS:

Kaho Cichon, a junior from Fountain Valley, won the 800m in 2:11.16, which ranks CA No. 5. Ashlynn Viramontes, a junior at Katella, was second in 2:13.18 (CA No. 8). 

Rebel Tuinuknafe, a junior at Orange Lutheran, had a best of 42-2.50 to rank sixth in the state in the shot put. 

Emily Richards, a senior at Aliso Niguel, as part of her two-title title, ran 4:55.21 for 1600m to rank CA No. 10. 

And, in securing the varsity boys team title, Mater Dei's 4x400 relay team ran a CA No. 9-time of 3:25.79.

Ajani Salcido, a senior at Jesuit (SJ) improved his 1600m time to 4:07.81 to rank CA No. 3, running at a league dual.

Joshua Schuld, a senior at Beckman (SS) improved his 1600m time to 4:11.32 for CA No. 4, achieved at the Laguna Beach Distance event on Friday night. 

D'Niko Bates, a senior at St. Mary's (NC), ran a windy 14.21 (3.9) at the Pittsburg Relays, for CA No. 4 (all-conditions). 

Antonio Abrego, a senior at Golden Valley (SS), went 48.63 for 400m in a May 12 dual, to rank CA No. 6. 

Aaliyah McCormick, a junior at Scripps Ranch (SD), moved into a tie for fourth with a 14.42 clocking in the 100m hurdles, achieved at a dual. 

Chinyere Egbuziem, a junior at Buchanan, moved to No. 9 in the state with a 143-9 discus throw at a midweek dual. 

Breanna Espinoza, a senior at Livingston (SJ), moved to No. 9 in shot put with a 41-1 effort at the Hughson Vintage Invitational. 

Noelle Elkinton, a senior at Del Norte (SD), moved up to No. 10 in the state rankings with a 40-9 shot put at a weekend dual. 

Kylee Davis, a junior at Golden Valley (SS), moved into a tie for the state lead with a 5-6 clearance in the high jump, achieved at a league dual. 

Summer Stevenson, a senior at Great Oak (SS), moved up to No. 5 with a 39-5-50 triple jump, achieved at a league dual.
