Big 8 Cluster Meet #1

Junior Lane Werley (ML King) won the boys varsity 3 mile race in 15:43 beating Corona senior Alan Cuevas (15:54).

Senior Kelsi Tippets (also from ML King) won the girls race in 19:35.  Two other girls broke the 20 minutes mark.  Adriana Olivas (So., Centennial) took second in 19:51 and Hanna Peterson (Jr., ML King) placed 3rd in 19:57.

Steven Melena from Eastside high won the varsity race in 16:34.52 over 2nd place finisher Bryan Guijarro from William Pete Knight (16:50.15).

The Highland girls took the top three spots in the girls race with Vanessa Lopez finishing first.  Lopez was the only girl to break 20 minutes.

Monterey Bay League Meet

Miguel Gallegos and Jovita Trujillo, both from North Monterey County, won the boys and girls varsity races.  Gallegos won the boys race in 16:11 over 2nd place Brian Knight from Watsonville.

Jovita took first in the girls race in 20:39, three seconds ahead of teammate Nadine Huerta (20:41)

Sophomore Samuel Hales from King City won the boys varsity race in 16:30. James Palaniuk (Jr., The York School) took second in 16:46.

Carolyn Bruckman (So., Stevenson School) won the girls race in 22:08 over 2nd place finisher Jackie Gollette (Jr., Santa Catalina).

Palos Verdes (pictured above; photo by Jeff Zukerman) headed north to the Jim Danner Nike Pre Nationals and took first place in the Championship race with 49 points over Auburn Riverside (99 pts.).  Palos Verdes won the meet by placing runners in positions 4 (Chase Zukerman),7 (Jonah Diaz),11 (Peter Cohen),12 (Jacob Paulson) and 15 (Justin Unno).

Andrew Zellman from Ukiah won the boys varsity ran in 16:44 with Kieren Broussard from Rodriguez taking second in 17:15.  Del Campo runners claimed the next 4 spots led by Jack Nevins and winning the event with 22 points.

 

Roseville's Shayna Powless won the girls race in 21.27.  Martina Rios from Cosumnes Oaks took second in 22:01.

Casa Robles took the team title with 41 points with Rodriguez taking a close second (45 points).
