This article highlights the results of a quarterfinal-round dual as part of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Meet Tournament. Virtual meets are scored based solely on 2020 results using the standard dual meet scoring points format of 5-3-1 for individuals and 5-0 for relays. Athletes are scored in no more than four events (although the program that processes the meet scores does not have access to individuals in a relay). Teams are limited to three athletes per event. Stay with us for the entire tournament to see which boys and girls teams reign supreme in this virtual meet format.

No. 12 Trabuco Hills (SS) vs. No. 13 Fresno Central (CS)

For the second consecutive round, the boys from Trabuco Hills held off a stellar opponent with a tight victory, this time knocking off Fresno Central (CS) in the quarterfinal round of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Dual Meet Tournament.

After knocking off No. 5 Golden Valley by two points in the second round, the Mustangs eliminated Central by just four points. Such a tight victory warrants attribution all around.    Once again, it came down to the 4x400 relay, where the Mustangs prevailed with their 3:24.34 victory!

Let's start with senior Eric Hiller, who had top marks in both of the throws -- PRs both -- contributing 10 of Trabuco's 11 points in that event category.

Senior Isaac Korn had the fastest time in the 300m hurdles and also chipped in points in both the 200m and 400m. Noteworthy is Korn's 38.65 for the hurdles race is a PR and ranks CA No. 2 based on marks achieved before the 2020 outdoor season was suspended.

When piecing together a dual meet victory, points come from everywhere. Junior Brandon Chau's contribution came from the 110m hurdles (5), triple jump (3) and long jump (1). Junior
Carson Kaminski's came from the 400m (5) and 300 hurdles (3). Senior Andrew Cooper added five in leading a sweep of the pole vault. Senior Augustine Reyes brought in a critical four in the high jump.

For Central, sophomore Cameron Tarver contributed 11 points in the sprints and long jump, junior Devin Kelly added 10 points from the sandbox, and seniors Guerrero Enrique (800m) and
Abel Teffra (1600m) each contributed five points as the Grizzlies won the distance event group.
