This article highlights the results of a quarterfinal-round dual as part of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Meet Tournament. Virtual meets are scored based solely on 2020 results using the standard dual meet scoring points format of 5-3-1 for individuals and 5-0 for relays. Athletes are scored in no more than four events (although the program that processes the meet scores does not have access to individuals in a relay). Teams are limited to three athletes per event. Stay with us for the entire tournament to see which boys and girls teams reign supreme in this virtual meet format.

No. 3 Santa Margarita Catholic (SS) vs. No. 11 Fresno Central (CS)

The dynamic 2021 duo of Lauren Memoly and Kendall Saeger accounted for 28 points as No. 3 Santa Margarita Catholic dominated the sprints and distances in a quarterfinal-round victory over No. 11 Fresno Central (CD) in the girls bracket of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Dual Meet Tournament.

On the track, Memoly had the fastest times in the 200m and 400m and the second fastest time in the 100m and Saeger topped SMC event sweeps in the 800m, 1600m and 3200m as the Eagles outscored Central, 50-4 in those two event groups.

Memoly also added five points to the team's total in the long jump and was undoubtedly a key member of the winning 4x400m lineup.

Among the other 13 ladies who helped the Eagles into the tournament's final four: Sophomore Ashley Rodgers won the 100m dash and contributed a third-place point in the 200m; junior McKenna Bradley added runner-up points behind Saeger in both the 800m and 1600m; senior Jessica Elisalde-Rendon had the fastest time in the 300m hurdles and classmate Sophia Morris blocked a Central sweep of the 100m hurdles and also added a point in the 300s; junior Erin Biddiscomb added five points in the jumps; junior Nathalie Barnes had the top mark in the pole vault, and sophomore Brooke Slymen kept the Eagles competitive in the throws, contributing six points in the discus and shot.

Central got event wins from seniors Monea Jennings (100m hurdles), Aniya Hoggatt (high jump), Simone Johnson (triple jump), freshman Kendra Batcher (shot put), and junior Taylor Lloyd (discus).
