This article highlights the results of second-round dual as part of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Meet Tournament. Virtual meets are scored based solely on 2020 results using the standard dual meet scoring points format of 5-3-1 for individuals and 5-0 for relays. No. 10 Vista Murrieta (SS) vs. No. 26 Canyon Country Canyon (SS)
Led by the senior trio of Hunter Escorcia, Michael Holland and Edward Ta'amilo, Vista Murrieta had 21 athletes contribute points while accumulating over 100 points in a second-round victory over Canyon (SS) in the boys bracket of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Dual Meet Tournament.
Escorcia had the fastest time in both hurdles, Holland topped the 800m and 1600m runs, and Ta'amilo had the best marks in the throws as the Broncos posted the highest meet total of the second round and the third highest of the boys competition.
Vista Murrieta's quarterfinal matchup against No. 18 Mission Viejo will be the first of either the boys or girls virtual dual tournaments scoring teams that have each scored in triple figures. Mission Viejo put up 114 in its first-round win over South Hills (SS).
Other top multiple-event scorers for Vista Murrieta included senior Tucker Moore, who won the 400m and added second-place points in the 300m hurdles, and junior Noah Murasmith, with the top time in the 3200m and runner-up times in both the 400m and 1600m.
For Canyon, senior Tyler Cash and junior Austin Hernandez had top marks in both the high jump and the long jump. Both boys cleared 6-8 in the high jump before the 2020 outdoor season was suspended. Cash also added a point in the pole vault.
