This article highlights the results of first-round dual as part of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Meet Tournament. Virtual meets are scored based solely on 2020 results using the standard dual meet scoring points format of 5-3-1 for individuals and 5-0 for relays. Athletes are scored in no more than four events. No. 15 SOUTH HILLS (SS) vs. No. 18 MISSION VIEJO (SS)

After scoring two of the closest virtual duals of both the boys and girls 32-team brackets, this final first-round match was no match at all, as Mission Viejo pulled the slight upset in overwhelming fashion. 

The Diablos won every category except hurdles (which was a tie), including four shutouts. 

Double-event winners for Mission Viejo were junior Luke Santagata (800m/1600m) and senior John Burns (400m/300m hurdles).

Those adding to the triple-digit points haul for Mission Viejo included junior Peter Costelli (first in the 100m, second in the 200m), fellow junior Bryce Bushnell (first in the 200m, second in the 400m), senior Jack Lawson (first in the 3200m, second in the 800m), Jaycen Cash (first in the high jump, second in the triple jump and in the 110m hurdles), and junior Micah Carreon (first in the discus throw, second in the shot).

Senior Jeremiah Harris was impressive for South Hills with the top marks in the 110m hurdles, long jump and triple jump, and the second fastest time in the 300m hurdles, accounting for 18 of South Hills' total of 22 points.
