Over the past two seasons, the best combo sprinters in the Central Coast Section were Azjani McGill of Monterey and Kurtis Lee of Evergreen Valley. McGill (Brandon Vallance photo above) swept the 100m and 200m at the CCS final as he was followed by Lee in the shorter sprint event. McGill also qualified for finals in the 200m at the California State Track & Field meet and will be the favorite in both sprint events heading into this season as a senior. Along with Lee, other contenders will include Francisco Sanchez of Menlo Atherton (3rd in 100m at CCS final) and Deven Vanderbilt of Valley Christian SJ (5th in 100m and 2nd in 200m at CCS final).

The overwhelming favorite to win the 400m will be Santa Teresa senior Omodiaogbe Oboh. He rolled to his first track section title in the 400m last season with a time of 48.71. What really opened eyes was his CCS semifinals performance as Oboh crushed the one-lap race in a PR of 47.60 and 21.88 in the 200m.
