Junior Boys 2019 XC All-MileSplitCA Team

The MileSplit California 2019 All-State Junior Boys Cross Country team is based on but not limited to placement at the State Meet within the class with strong consideration also given to results at section divisional finals and other top performances.

JACKSON ADELMANSt. Margaret's Episcopal (SS)



Jackson won the State Division V title a week after winning the Southern Section D5 title for a second consecutive year. His time at State of 15:39.90 may only rank 25th among juniors but he is the only boy in the class of 2021 with a CIF-State championship.


PATRICK CURULLA, De La Salle (NC)



Patrick ran 15:15.00 to place eighth in the Division II race at the State Meet. His time ranked fourth among all boys in the 2021 class at State. Curulla won the North Coast Section D-II title -- a year after placing 14th -- with the fastest time (14:55.20) in the class at that meet and No. 2 overall in the merge. Curulla was second in the class at Rough Rider and tied for fifth at Mt. SAC. 



Nick crossed the line in 15:17.00 at the State Meet to place 10th in the Division II race while helping Newbury Park to the D-II State title. His time at State ranked fifth overall in the class. He ran No. 5 as Newbury Park won the Southern Section title, No. 4 as part of the State Meet title and No. 4 as part of the NXN championship team while placing 51st among scoring runners. He was second among all junior boys at Woodbridge and seventh in the class at Clovis.


JACK KEOUGH-LANSFORD, Claremont (SS)


Jack's time of 15:14.30 placed him seventh in the Division II race at the State Meet a year after finishing 72nd. His time ranked third overall among juniors at the State Meet. He placed 12th overall in the D2 race at the Southern Section championships  with a time of 14:53.80 that ranked among junior boys third in the race and third in the merge.


COLIN PEATTIE, Bellarmine College Prep (CC)


Colin placed fourth in the Division I race at the State Meet. His time of 15:06.80 ranked first among junior boys at State. Peattie won the Central Coast Section title while running the No. 1 time at the meet (15:02.80) regardless of class. Ran the top time in the class at Mt. SAC (14:52.00) while placing fourth. He placed fourth at Foot Locker West Regional as one of only two CA boys to qualify to compete at the Foot Locker National Championships. 


NOLAN TOPPER Bellarmine College Prep (CC)


Nolan (109 above) ran a time of 15:08.40 that was good for sixth place in the Division I race at the State Meet. His time was the second in the class in the division behind only teammate Colin Peattie and also ranked No. 2 overall among junior boys at the meet. Nolan placed seventh at Foot Locker West Regional and joined Peattie as the only to two CA boys who qualified to compete at the Foot Locker National Championships. 


JACOB YAGERSBakersfield Highland (CS)



Jacob (754 above) placed 11th in the Division II race at the State meet, a year after placing 36th. He crossed as the No. 4 junior boy in that race and his time of 15:18.30 ranked sixth among all junior boys at the State Meet. Yagers won the Central Section D2 title in 15:48.91 and ranked as the highest placing junior in the merge. Yagers won the invitational race at Rough Rider with the top overall time (15:16.20) and was third among all junior boys at Mt. SAC.

SECOND TEAM

GODEBO CHAPMAN West Campus (Hiram Johnson) (SJ) -- Placed seventh in the Division IV race at the State Meet with the No. 2 time in the class in that race and the No. 20 time among junior boys at the meet. Chapman won the D4 title at the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships and is one of only eight junior boys to have won a section title. He also posted the fastest time in the class at Capital Cross (15:38.30).

DYLAN GUNN, Campolindo  (NC) -- Placed fifth in the Division III race at the State Meet leading his team to the title. His time of 15:33.80 placed 19th among juniors at the State Meet. Won the D3 title at the North Coast Section Championships with the No. 3 time among juniors at that meet and the No. 5 time overall. 

MATEO JOSEPH, Great Oak (SS) -- Placed 17th in the Division I race at the State Meet running 15:26.10, which ranked eighth among juniors at State. Was a consistent No. 5 for the Wolfpack in winning team titles at Clovis, State and placing a close second at NXN. 

EWAN MACFARLANEPeninsula (SS)-- His time of 15:24.90 placed 13th in the Division II race at the State Meet. His time ranked fifth in the D-II race among junior boys and seventh overall in the class of 2021 at the State Meet. His 14:44.10 for sixth place in the Southern Section Championships ranked as the No. 1 time in the class at the meet.

BRANDON PIZANO, Dana Hills (SS) -- Placed 19th in the Division II race at the State Meet, crossing in 15:30.40, which ranked No. 12 among juniors at State. He helped the Dolphins earn a bid to NXN and ran No. 2 and placed 40th among scoring runners on the Glendoveer Course. 

JOSHUA VILLASENOR, Foothill Technology (SS) -- Placed fifth in the Division IV race at the State Meet in 15:28.10. Placed third in the Southern Section Championship (15:03.70) to help his team to the title. His time on the 3-mile Riverside City Course ranked eighth in the class at the SS Championships.

JOHN WORTHY, Great Oak (SS) -- Placed 24th in the Division I race at the State Meet in a time of 15:31.50, which ranked 13th among all boys in the 2021 class at State. Ran No. 1 and placed sixth overall as Great Oak won the Southern Section D1 title and No. 3 as the Wolfpack placed a close second at NXN.
