Check out Cory Mull's interview with four-time race walk champion Reese Gentry.
California youth Reese Gentry won the AAU Junior Olympics national championship in the race walk for the fourth consecutive year when she captured the 13-year-old division title during competition this week at Aggie Stadium in Greensboro, NC.
Gentry, from Northridge competing unattached, won the 3000-meter race in 16 minutes, 9.39 seconds. Runner-up Tiarra Jackson of Velocity Track Club (NY) was second more than three minutes behind (19:09.66). (According to an interview she conducted with MileSplit's Cory Mull, Gentry lapped the field!)
Gentry had won the previous three age group titles, contested at 1500 meters, including setting the AAU record in the 10-year-old division of 7:36.29 (which easily survived this year's challenge).
