SPRINTS

BRAYDEN BORQUEZ (Harvard Westlake (SS) | 400/300 Hurdles/Relays | USC-bound sprinter/hurdler placed second at the State Meet in the 400 (46.83). Borquez also ran second leg on the 4x100 relay team that placed fifth at State (41.71). His 400m PR of 46.67 ranked CA No. 3 and No. 11 in the U.S. He also won the Southern Section Division 3 title in the 300 hurdles (37.85) and his 37.28 PR ranks fourth in the state. 
KENAN CHRISTON (Madison/SD) | 100/200 | Christon swept the short sprints at the State Meet to cap a record-setting senior season. Christon won the 100m in 10.30 (1.2), equalling the State Meet record set in 1992 by another San Diego Section athlete, Riley Washington from Southwest HS. Christon came back at the State Meet to win the 200m (20.69/2.5). He ranks CA No. 1 and U.S No. 7 with his all-conditions 100m PR of 10.26 (2.6) and his wind-legal time from State ranks U.S. No. 3. His San Diego Section record 200m of 20.55 (1.9) ranks U.S. No. 3. Both wind-legal PRs rank CA No. 5 all-time. Headed to USC for football and track.
CHRISTIAN GRUBB (Sherman Oaks Notre Dame/SS) | 100/200 | Grubb placed second in the 100m (10.53/1.2) and third in the 200m (21.11/2.5) at the State Meet. His wind-legal 100m PR of 10.40 where he beat Christon to win at Arcadia, and 20.93, where he also beat Christon to win at Mt. Carmel, both rank CA No. 2 behind Christon. Grubb, who swept the sprints at both the Southern Section Division 3 Final and SS Masters Meet, also won the D3 triple jump title and qualified for SS Masters.  Southern Section Masters Meet qualifier in the triple jump. His PR in that event of 47-10.50 (nwi) ranks CA No. 8. Headed to UCLA for football and track.
ZACHARY LARRIER (Monterey Trail/SJ) | 400/Relays | Larrier opened the State Meet by anchoring Monterey Trail to victory in the 4x100 relay (41.47), came back to win the 400m (46.73) and concluded his day anchoring the 4x400 relay to a sixth-place finish (3:20.37). With Larrier leading the way, Monterey Trail accumulated 27 points to place second in the team competition. His 400m PR of 46.49 for second at Arcadia ranks CA No. 1 and U.S. No. 5. Headed to Air Force for football and track
CAMERON REYNOLDS (Clayton Valley/NC) | 200/400/Relays | Reynolds is believed to be the only senior boy who competed in four events at the State Meet's Saturday finals. The UCLA-bound sprinter reached the podium in two of those, placing second in the 200m (20.99/2.5) and fourth in the 400m (47.31). Reynolds anchored the 4x100 relay that placed seventh (42.45) and ran second leg on the 4x400 relay that also placed seventh (3:22.92). His 47.31 season-best 400m ranks CA No. 4 and his 20.99 (1.7) PR for 200m from State Prelims ranks CA No. 3.


DISTANCES

LIAM ANDERSON (Redwood/NC) | 1600/3200 | He placed second in the 3200 (8:53.28) and third in the 1600 (4:10.26) at the State Meet. Anderson, bound for Stanford, won the 1600m at the North Coast Meet of Champions and reached the State Meet final in the 1600m three consecutive years, placing fourth, first and third, respectively, between 2017-2019. In the 3200, he won the NCS MOC title twice, placed second as a sophomore, and reached the State Meet podium the last two season, placing fifth and second, respectively.
MASON RATKOVICH (Loyola/SS) | 800/Relay | Ratkovich placed third in the 800m at the State Meet (1:52.22) and ran second leg on the winning 4x400 relay (3:17.56). His 800 time from the State final ranks CA No. 3. It was only the third time he had run sub-1:53. The others were 1:52.38 for second at the Southern Section Division 2 final and 1:52.67 for ninth at the State final as a junior.
KAI WINGO (Valencia/SS) | 800 | Wingo completed an untouchable season in the 800m, winning the State title in 1:51.71, the fastest time in CA this season. Wingo, headed to UCLA, won 10 races this season at 800m, including Arcadia (1:52.45), Mt. SAC Relays (1:52.11), Southern Section Division 1 (1:52.08) and SS Masters (1:54.87). As a junior, Wingo's best time in the event was 1:54.30. As a senior, he ran faster than that nine times.

HURDLES

REYTE RASH (Riverside King/SS) | 300 Hurdles | Rash battled through a thigh injury during the post-season but it didn't seem to slow him, especially at the end where his strong close in the 300 hurdles final fell .09 short of a title. For the second year in a row, Rash placed second to Caleb Lutalo Roberson in the State 300 hurdles final, despite running a 36.41 PR that ranks CA No. 2, U.S. No. 3 and CA No. 16 all-time.  Southern Section Masters champion (37.89) and SS Division 1 runner-up in both the 110 hurdles (14.50) and 300 hurdles (36.59). No. 16.

CALEB LUTALO ROBERSON (Upland/SS) | 300 Hurdles/Relays | Roberson won a second consecutive State Meet title in the 300 hurdles, holding off Southern Section rival Reyte Rash with a dive at the finish line that left both of these stellar competitors sprawled on the track at the end. Roberson's winning time of 36.32 was .09 ahead or Rash and ranks CA No. 1, U.S. No. 2 and CA No. 12 all-time. Roberson, headed to Wyoming for football, also won the Southern Section Division 1 titles in the 300 hurdles (36.35), 100m dash (10.59) and 4x400 relay (3:13.31/CA No. 3) where he ran the lead leg. 

WARREN WILLIAMS (Merrill West/SJ) | 110 Hurdles | Williams placed third at the State Meet in the 110 hurdles (13.92/3.3). He competed in the same league as State Champion and U.S. leader Jamar Marshall. Williams ran his 110 hurdles PR of 13.55 (0.4) for second at the Sac-Joaquin Section Finals. That time ranks CA No. 2, tied for U.S. No. 4 and CA No. 9 all-time.

BEAU ALLEN (San Marcos/SS) | High Jump | Allen won the State title in the high jump with a clearance of 6-11. Allen cleared 7-00 at the Ventura Invitational in early March, a mark that ranks CA No. 1 and tied for U.S. No. 5. He also won at Stanford (6-08) and placed third at Southern Section Masters (6-08). Allen made the State Meet as a junior and placed fourth (6-08). 
DEANDRA McDANIEL (Selma/CS) | Triple Jump | McDaniel placed second at the State Meet in the triple jump (48-02.75/2.6). This was his third trip to State Final in the triple and second top-four finish. His season-best mark from State ranks CA No. 5 for all-condition jumps. His wind-legal best of 47-10.75 (0.8) for fourth at Arcadia ranks CA No. 4. 
JACOB RICE (Rancho Bernardo/SD | Pole Vault | Rice placed second at the State Meet in the pole vault with a PR clearance of 16-05. That mark ranks CA No. 2. Rice placed first in 17 of 19 meets including winning a second consecutive San Diego Section title (16-03). He also won at Valley Center Jaguar (16-04) and Mt. SAC (16-03).
JACK WISEMAN (Huntington Beach/SS) | High Jump | Wiseman placed third at the State Meet in the high jump with a clearance of 6-09. Wiseman is a four-time Southern Section Division 1 finalist, three-time SS Masters Meet qualifier and first time SSMM champion and State Meet qualifier. He accomplished that with a 6-10 PR that ranks tied for CA No. 2. 
SAMUEL WRIGHT (Lodi/SJ) | Pole Vault | Wright won the State title in the pole vault with the second best clearance of his life, 16-05. Runner-up Jacob Rice also cleared 16-05 but Wright did it in fewer attempts, earning the victory. Wright, headed to Harvard, hit a big PR of 16-08 at County Clash in mid-March, which ranks CA No. 1 and tied for U.S. No. 12. He also won at Arcadia (16-01) and Sac-Joaquin Section Masters (15-06). 


THROWS

GINO CRUZ (Newbury Park/SS) | Discus Throw | Cruz claimed the State title in the discus with a winning throw of 191-11. He threw his PR of 195-00 at State Prelims, which ranks CA No. 2 and U.S. No. 11. Cruz, headed to UCLA, won the Southern Section Division 1 discus title (181-04) and placed second at SS Masters (189-04). He also reached the State Final as a junior and placed seventh (180-09). 
CHRISTIAN JOHNSON (Buchanan/CS) | Discus Throw/Shot Put | Johnson placed second at the State Meet in the discus throw (179-11) and sixth in the shot put (59-03.75). His discus season best of 191-07 for third at Mt. SAC ranks CA No. 5. His shot PR of 60-06 to win at Bobby Bass ranks CA No. 8. Central Section Masters discus champion (190-09). Johnson, headed to Texas, is a two-time State Meet finalist in both throws. Recently won the CA Hammer Throw Championship with a PR of 220-03, which ranks U.S. No. 6.
SEAN RHYAN (San Juan Hills/SS) | Shot Put | Rhyan placed third at the State Meet in the shot put (61-06.50). 63-03.50 to win at Orange County Championships ranks CA No. 3. Placed first in eight of 13 meets during the season including five meets with throws of at least 60 feet. Southern Section Division 1 champion (59-05) and SS Masters Meet runner-up (61-10.75). Football offensive lineman headed to UCLA. 
DANIEL VIVEROS (Bakersfield Liberty/CS) | Discus Throw/Shot Put | Viveros won a second consecutive State title in the shot put (68-10.50) and placed fifth in the discus throw (176-09).  Viveros, headed to the University of Mississippi, unleashed two throws of 70-plus at the CIF-Central Section South Area Meet in early May, including a monster 71-03 bomb that ranks U.S. No. 1 and CA No. 4 all-time. His discus PR of 195-05 to win early April's Patriot Games, ranks CA No. 1 and U.S. No. 10. He is a three-time medalist at State in the shot put (placing third as a sophomore) and three-time qualifier in the discus and two-time finalist.
