SPRINTS

SHELBY DANIELE (Buchanan/CS) | 100/200/Relay | Daniele won the State 200 meter title, running a PR of 23.73 (1.6). She also reached the final of the 100m and scored for her team, placing seventh (11.80/1.6), adding to Buchanan's team championship total. Daniele ran second leg on the 4x100 relay that reached the State final and placed second (46.75). Her 100m best of 11.80 (1.6) ranks CA No. 8 for wind-legal times, and her 200m best of 23.73 (1.6) ranks CA No. 2 overall and tied for U.S. No. 8 in the class wind-legal. Daniele won both the 100m (11.82/1.0) and 200m (24.36/-0.4) at Central Section Masters.
JAZMYNE FROST (Gardena Serra/SS) | 100/200 | For the second year in a row, Frost won medals in the two short sprints. She placed second in the 200 (23.83/1.6) and third in the 100 (11.64/1.6). Frost, headed to USC< won the Southern Section Division 4 100m (11.80) for the second year in a row and placed second at SS Masters in the 100m (11.90) and fourth in the 200m (24.37). Her season best in the 100m of 11.60 (1.6) ranks CA No. 3 and her SB for 200m of 23.83 (1.6) ranks CA No. 4. 
SAUNDRIA MARTIN (Long Beach Poly/SS) | 100/200/Relays | Scored big for the Jackrabbits in both the short sprints and both relays. She placed fourth in the 200 (23.94/1.6) and fifth in the 100 (11.76/1.6), anchored the 4x400 relay to the State title (3:46.23) and ran second leg on the 4x100 relay that reached the State final and placed third (47.25). Martin, headed to UCLA, won the Southern Section Masters 200m title (24.03/-0.5) and placed third in the 100 (11.93/0.5).
DE'ANNA NOWLING (Calabasas/SS) | 100/200 | Nowling won the State title for the second year in a row. She ran 11.55 (1.6) while fending off a balky hamstring injury that unfortunately forced her to dial it back during the 200m final, where she placed fifth (23.98/1.6). Despite the injury, it was only the second time all season she ran sub-24. In the 100m, Nowling won 10 races and went undefeated in non-prelims. Her list of victories includes Texas Relays, Arcadia, Southern Section Division 2 and SS Masters. In the 200m, she won at Arcadia (SB 23.64), SS D2 and placed second at SS Masters. anchored the Calabasas 4x100 relay team that ran 45.95 for CA No. 1 and U.S. No. 15. But that relay was DQed at league finals and didn't run at State. Nowling is headed to the University of Miami (Fla.).
CHINYERE OKORO (Amador Valley/NC) | 100/200 | Okoro placed second in the 100m (11.60/1.6) and third in the 200m (23.86/1.6) at the State Meet. She won 13 of her 100m races and 10 of her 200m races, including North Coast Section Meet of Champions where she won the 100m in 11.65 (1.7) and the 200m in 24.42 (-1.1). Her 100m PR of 11.56 (1.1) from State Prelims ranks CA No. 2 and her 200m PR 23.82 (0.7), also from State Prelims, ranks CA No. 3. 


DISTANCES

FATIMA CORTES (Great Oak/SS) | 800-1600 | Placed fifth at State in the 1600 (4:49.71) and 11th in the 800 (2:14.54). She placed second at the Southern Section Masters Meet with PRs in both the 800 (2:11.40) and 1600 (4:45.41). Cortes, headed to Cal, ranks top-nine in all three distance races in the class, CA No. 5 for 800, No. 2 for 1600 and No. 9 for 3200 (10:40.63, which she ran as part of a sweep of the three distance races at the Southwestern League Finals). 
KRISTIN FAHY (La Costa Canyon/SD) | 3200 | Won the State 3200 title, breaking her own San Diego Section record in the process with a PR time of 10:11.38 (CA No. 23 all-time). Fahy, headed to Stanford, ranks CA No. 1 and U.S. No. 9 for 3200 and No. 7 for 1600 (4:48.34). Her 4:49.98 mile to win at APU Distance Meet of Champions ranks CA No. 4. Fahy won seven of eight 3200 races and placed fourth at Arcadia with a then-PR and SDS record 10:15.80. She is a three-time SDS champion at 3200 and three-time State Meet participant, placing fourth as a junior and 10th as a sophomore.
MEAGEN LOWE (Buchanan/SS) | 1600/3200 |  Placed second at State in the 1600 with a PR of 4:43.61 and third in the 3200 (10:18.87) in helping Buchanan to the girls team title. Her 1600 PR ranks CA No. 2, U.S. No. 7 and CA No. 28 all-time. Lowe, headed to Oregon State, also ranks CA No. 2 and U.S. No. 11 for 3200 (10:12.78) and CA No. 9 in the class for 800 (2:12.59). Lowe won both long distance races at Central Section Masters, winning the 1600 in 4:50.80 and the 3200 in 10:29.65.
GABRIELLE PETERSON (Healdsburg/NC) 1600 |  Placed fifth at State for 3200 running a PR of 10:23.85, and placed sixth at State for 1600 (4:51.86). Her 3200 PR ranks CA No. 5 in the class and No. 8 overall. Her 1600m PR of 4:47.90 to win a the NCS Redwood Empire Area Finals, ranks CA No. 3 in the class and No. 6 overall. In 11 1600 races, she went sub-4:50 four times, sub-4:53 seven times, and ran at least sub04:58 all but once. Peterson, headed to Oregon State where she will team with Meagen Lowe, won the North Coast Meet of Champions 1600m title (4:48.54) for the second year in a row, and was runner-up for 3200 (10:32.53). 
RAYNA STANZIANO (Concord/NC) | 800 |  Placed third at State in the 800m for the second year in a row. She ran season-best time of 2:10.07 that ranks CA No. 1 in the class and No. 3 overall. During the season, Stanziano won eight 800m races and placed no less than second 11 times. Stanziano, headed to St. Mary's College, ranks CA No. 8 overall for 1600 (4:49.85) and No. 6 in the class for 3200 (10:35.07). 


HURDLES

By any measurement, Jazlynn Shearer ran the second-fastest U.S. time in the 100 hurdles this season, both her wind-aided PR of 13.24 (2.9) and her wind-legal PR of 13.36 (0.5) rank U.S. No. 2. (Credit: Frank Bellino) 

CYVANNA BOWEN (Stockton Edison/SJ) | 100 Hurdles | Placed second at the State Meet in the 100 hurdles with an all-conditions PR of 13.54 (2.9). That time ranks CA No. 2 for wind-aided marks and tied for U.S. No. 6 in the senior class for all-conditions marks. She ran sub-14 five times during the season, including twice at State. Bowen is a two-time State Meet finalist (she placed ninth as a junior).  
JAZLYNN SHEARER (Silver Creek/CC) | 100 Hurdles/Long Jump/Triple Jump | Shearer won the State title in the 100 hurdles (13.24/2.9) and the triple jump (41-01/2.7) and placed second in the long jump (19-10.75/1.4). She accounted for 28 points, single-handedly earning Silver Creek the runner-up team award at State. Shearer, headed to UNLV, won Central Coast Section titles in the 100 hurdles (13.86/0.1), long jump (18-09/1.7) and triple jump (38-08.50/1.0). Her time at State ranks U.S. No. 2 for all-conditions and her 13.36 (0.5) for second at Arcadia ranks U.S. No. 3 among wind-legal marks. Her triple jump PR of 41-03.75 to win at Arcadia ranks U.S. No. 6 in the senior class and her season-best long jump mark from State ranks U.S. No. 6 in the class for wind-legal jumps.

HALEY ABIRACHED (Buchanan/CS) | Triple Jump | Placed second at the State Meet in the triple jump (40-03.25). She saved her best for last, hitting her PR jump and going beyond 40 feet for the first time to add eight huge points to Buchanan's team championship total. Had the second best jump of her life, 39-07.50, for fifth at State Prelims. Abirached went 38-07 to win her first Central Section Masters title. She is one of only nine girls nationwide in the 2019 class with a wind-legal jump of at least 40 feet.
ELIZABETH FUNK (Clovis West/CS) | Pole Vault | Equalled the No. 3 pole vault in state history when she cleared 13-09 at TRAC championships on May 2. That is the fourth-highest jump among high school girls in the U.S. this season. At the time of her clearance, Funk was the 29th girl in U.S. HS history to pole vault at least 13-09. Funk, headed to San Diego State, went on to win the Central Section Masters title (12-00) and placed fifth at State (12-08). 
ALYSAH HICKEY (Coronado/SD) | High Jump/Long Jump | Hickey won the State high jump title (5-08) and placed third in the long jump (19-10.50/2.2). She went undefeated in 11 high jump meets, including wins at Arcadia and Mt. SAC Relays for the second year in a row, and San Diego Section Division 2 for the third year in row. Hickey, headed to Oregon, cleared a PR of 5-10.50 at the season-opening UC Track Classic, which ranks CA No. 1 and tied for U.S. No. 7 in the class. In the long jump, where she was the State champion as a junior, she won 10 meets including the SDS D2 for the second year in row. She hit her PR of 20-09 (2.8) at the UC Track Classic and also exceeded 20 feet to win at Mt. SAC (20-01/1.4) and at league finals (20-01.50). Her 20-09 ranks CA No. 1 and U.S. No. 5 for all-conditions performances, and her wind-legal best from Mt. SAC ranks CA No. 1 and tied for U.S. No. 7.
CAMRYN THOMSON (Poway/SD) | Pole Vault | Placed third in the pole vault at the State Meet with a 13-00 clearance. That was her eighth time in 18 meets vaulting over at least 13 feet. She cleared a PR of 13-03 at a league dual, a height that ranks No. 5 in CA, is tied for U.S. No. 8 in the class and is tied for U.S. No. 19 overall. Placed second at the San Diego Section Division 1 Final (13-00) to eventual State champion Ashley Callahan. Thomson is one of a record 10 girls in CA to clear at least 13-00 this season. 


THROWS

JOCELYNN BUDWIG (Fowler/CS) | Discus Throw/Shot Put | Won the State title in both the discus throw -- 
with the second-best throw of her stellar four-year high school career, 171-10 -- and the shot put -- with a personal record 49-02.75 to win that event for the second year in a rowBudwig's discus throw ranks CA No. 1 and U.S. No. 2. Her shot put PR ranks CA No. 1 and U.S. No. 3. Her discus PR from the 2018 State Meet Prelims of 174-02 ranks 16th in state history. Her shot put PR ranks 24th in state history. Budwig, headed to Auburn, is a four-time Central Section Masters champion and State Meet medalist in the discus throw.
SHYANN FRANKLIN (Golden Valley/SS) | Shot Put | Placed second at the State Meet in the shot put for the second year in a row, hitting a PR throw of 48-00.75 that ranks CA No. 2 and U.S. No. 9. Placed second at Southern Section Masters (43-10.75) and won the SS Division 2 title (43-01.75)

NATALIE RAMIREZ (West Ranch/SS) | Discus Throw/Shot Put | Placed third at State in the discus throw (159-00) and fourth in the shot put (44-00.50). Ramirez, headed to UCLA, swept the throws at Southern Section Masters, winning the discus with a best of 153-07 and the shot at 44-11.25. Has PRs of 163-02 in the discus and 47-09.75 in the shot. Shot put PR ranks CA No. 3 and U.S. No. 11. Discus PR ranks CA No. 3 and U.S. No. 6.

CARLY WATTS (Terra Nova/CC) | Discus Throw/Shot Put | Placed third at State in the shot put (45-04) and was 11th in the discus throw (140-01). Two-time Central Coast Section champion and State Meet medalist in the shot put. Won the CCS title in the shot put (46-02) and placed second in the discus (140-04). Hit discus PR of 157-04 to place third at Arcadia, which ranks CA No. 4 and U.S. No. 18. Hit shot put PR of 46-05 at CCS Trials, a mark that ranks CA No. 5. CCS champion in the shot put (46-02).

SPRINTS


BELLE ADUKA (Pleasanton Foothill/NC) | 400 | Placed seventh at State (55.52). Ran PR of 55.19 at State Prelims. That time ranks CA No. 5 in the senior class. Won the 400m at the North Coast Section Meet of Champions (55.64).
SOPHIA ALEXANDER (St. Mary's College HS/NC) | 100/200 | Placed eighth at State in the 100m (11.87/1.6) and missed a spot in the 200m final by .11 seconds, placing 10th in qualifying (24.49/1.1). Ran second leg on the 4x100 relay that reached the State final and placed eighth (48.10). 
TESSA GREEN (Santa Margarita Catholic/SS) |100/Relays | Placed sixth at State in the 100m with a wind-legal PR of 11.78. That time ranks CA No. 5 in the class for wind-legal marks. Green ran anchor on the 4x100 relay team that reached the State Meet final and finished seventh (47.64). 
CHIOMA OKONKWO (Murrieta Mesa/SS) | 400 | Placed fifth at the State Meet in the 400m (54.83). Her PR of 54.25 from the Southwestern League Finals ranks CA No. 1 in the class, CA No. 4 overall and U.S. No. 12 in the class. Also qualified for State in the 200m where she ran 24.52 for 12th at Prelims.   

DISTANCES

BRISEIDA GARCIA-MEZA (Gregori/SJ) | 800 | Placed seventh at the State Meet in the 800m with a PR of 2:12.01. That time ranks tied for CA No. 6 in the class. 
LAUREN HARPER (Trinity/NS) | 800 | Placed sixth at the State Meet in the 800m with a PR of 2:10.98. That time ranks CA No. 2 in the class and CA No. 6 overall. Harper, headed to San Diego State, is a three-time Northern Section champion and two-time State qualifier in the 800, two-time NS champion for 1600m and former State Meet qualifier for 400m. 
CASSIDY HASKELL (Miramonta/NC) | 1600 | Placed seventh at the State Meet with a season-best time of 4:54.56. She saved her best last, running the two fastest times at State since her freshman year when she ran her 4:52.29 PR. Haskell's 4:54.76 at State Prelims qualified her 10th for her first State Final in her third trip to Clovis. 
SARAH SHULZE (Oak Park/SS) | 1600/3200 | Southern Section Masters champion for 3200 and Division 3 champion for both 1600 and 3200. Placed 17th at State in the 3200 (10:52.17). Shulze, headed to Wisconsin, ranks CA No. 3 in the class for 3200 (10:18.77 to win at Mt. SAC) and No. 11 in the class for 1600 (4:53.38 to win at the Ventura County Championships). 


HURDLES

KATHRYN BINGHAM (Oak Ridge/SJ) | 300 Hurdles | Placed sixth at the State Meet with a PR of 43.39. That time ranks CA No. 4 in the class and CA No. 10 overall. Bingham, headed to BYU, also won the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters title (44.15).
KYLA ROBINSON-HUBBARD (Calabasas/SS) | 300 Hurdles | One-time CA leader in the 300 hurdles whose season was cut short by disqualification at league finals. Her 42.25 to win at the Ventura County Championships ranks CA No. 1 in the senior class, CA No. 4 overall and U.S. No. 11 in the class. As a junior, Robinson-Hubbard ran her PR of 41.82 to win the Southern Section Masters and she went on to place second at State (42.07).


JUMPS

AMETHYST HARPER (Central/CS) | High Jump | Placed sixth at the State Meet (5-05). Central Section Masters champion (5-06). Cleared PR of 5-08 at season-opening Ventura Invitational, a mark that ranks CA No. 4. 
KATIE HURST (Fortuna Union/NC) | High Jump | Placed seventh at the State Meet equalling her season-best jump of 5-05. Three-time North Coast Meet of Champions winner, three-time State Meet finalist who placed second as a sophomore (5-08). 
TIERNI KAUFMAN (Harvard Westlake/SS) | High Jump | Placed fifth at the State Meet (5-05). Cleared PR of 5-08 at the Clovis Invitational at the end of March. That mark ranks tied for CA No. 4. Two-time Southern Section Division 3 champion and State Meet finalist. 
HANNAH LYBBERT (Davis/SJ) | High Jump | Placed fourth at the State Meet with a PR-equalling clearance of 5-06. Three-time State Meet qualifier and two-time finalist. She placed eighth as a junior with a 5-06 clearance.
BROOKE SIMON (Sir Francis Drake/NC) | Pole Vault | Placed seventh at the State Meet with a PR-equalling clearance of 12-08. She also cleared 12-08 to win the NCS Redwood Empire Area meet. Arcadia Open Division Champion (12-05). 

THROWS

TIERRA CROCKRELL (Calabasas/SS) | Shot Put | Placed sixth at the State Meet with a PR throw of 43-08. Versatile multis athlete who found her groove in the shot and hit a 2-plus-foot PR when it counted most.  
AMAYA FULLER (Santa Clara/CC) | Discus Throw | Place fourth at the State Meet with a PR throw of 148-10. That mark, her first beyond 139-10 (which she threw at State Prelims), ranks CA No. 6 in the class. Two-time State Meet qualifier in the discus throw.
LYDIA LIU (Roosevelt/SS) | Discus Throw/Shot Put | Placed fifth at State in the discus throw (148-02) and was 18th in shot put (39-08.25) qualifying. Hit her discus PR of 157-01 to win the Southern Section Division 1 title as part of Roosevelt's team title. Her discus PR ranks CA No. 4 in the class and shot put PR of 43-01.25 ranks CA No. 12 in the class.
NATALIE ROGERS (Cottonwood West Valley/NS) | Discus Throw/Shot Put | Placed seventh at State in the discus throw (145-03). Missed qualifying for the shot put final by two inches, placing 13th (41-01.75).  Northern Section champion for both the discus (146-09, PR) and shot (40-10). Three-time NS Finals champion in the shot. Hit shot put PR of 44-06.50 to win the NS Division 2 title. 
AMANDA SPEAR (Thousand Oaks/SS) | Discus Throw | Placed fifth at the State Meet in the discus throw (147-03). Got her PR of 151-03 to win the Southern Section Division 2 title. That mark ranks CA No. 5 in the class.
