This installment of a 10-part series leading up to the overall MileSplitCA All-State teams focuses on boys in the class of 2020.

The MileSplitCA All-State teams are subjective selections with strong consideration given to performance at the CIF-State Meet, top placing at section finals, season-long consistency at a high level, and versatility. Top marks within the class is a consideration but not a guarantee of making these teams. Performances at the end of the season are weighed more than those at the beginning of the season.

In compiling the teams, our goal is to have representation under every event group and for each event within that group, which places a high value on versatility.

The boys in the 2020 class crushed it at the CIF-State Championships, as 29 athletes won 34 medals across the 14 individual events. This class had 18 top-three placers and accounted for five event titles, including two by Caleb Foster of Clovis North (DeAnna Turner photo)

It took a top-three finish at the State Meet to guarantee a spot among our 20-athlete first team. With one exception, it took a top-10 finish in a State Meet final to make the 20-athlete second team.

All State Meet Finals qualifiers were guaranteed at least an honorable mention. A scattered few others who did not competed on Saturday at the State Championships also earned a spot among our 25-athlete honorable mention list.
