Looking back at this past season, there are definitely some standout moments for some of the Central Coast Section best.
Silver Creek hurdler/jumper/sprinter extraordinaire Jazlynn Shearer won her 4th section title in the 100 meter hurdles and powered her team to a 2nd place finish at the section final. She had some help at that meet but at the CIF State Track and Field final, Shearer singlehandedly carried her team to a 2nd place team finish behind the powerhouse Buchanan team.
Los Gatos teammates Joey Monti and Masaki Wada-Law pushed each other in the 300 meter hurdles all season as well as participated in their own events as they helped Los Gatos win it's first Track and Field section title for the boys.
Menlo junior Charlotte Tomkinson was the top 800-meter runner in California throughout most of the season and along with her teammates were also able to capture the school's first Track and Field team section title.
Bellarmine sophomore Colin Peattie (photo above courtesy of Colin's Twitter account) quietly posted some very good times during the season but really shined at the end of the season. At the CCS finals, Peattie was a double winner in the 1600 and 3200. He established a new CCS all-time sophomore 1600 record in the final with a time of 4:11.52. He lowered that time to 4:10.48 at the CIF Trials and lowered it even further to 4:09.99 in the finals.
Terra Nova senior Carly Watts completed a double/double victory in the shot put and discus her last two seasons. She also finished in 3rd place in the shot put at the California State Track and Field meet as she made on top of the podium for the event for the 2nd year in a row.

SECTION FINAL REVIEW
The section trials and final were once again held at Gilroy HS under pristine conditions despite having a forecast with potential rain. Unfortunately for the North Coast Section folks, that deluge took place the following day.
Starting with the section team champions, the Los Gatos boys left no doubt about the best boys' team in the section as they easily outdistanced themselves from the 2nd place St. Francis boy 83-56. They were powered to victory by their two star hurdlers, Joey Monti, and Masaki Wada-Law.
For the girls, Menlo School won their first team Track and Field title with 53 points as they finished ahead of two 2nd place teams, San Lorenzo Valley (38) and Silver Creek (38).
Shearer's 100 hurdles time of 13.24 was wind-aided and ranked as the fastest time in the nation for all conditions. Her best triple jump mark of 41-3.75 which was achieved while winning the Arcadia Invitational was also ranked 7th in the US.
For the boys, several athletes were ranked in the top 10 in California including Omodiaogbe Ohob of Santa Teresa in the 400, Garrett MacQuiddy of Westmont in the 800, Colin Peattie of Bellarmine in the 1600, Masaki Wada-Law of Los Gatos in the 110 hurdles, Joey Monti and Masaki Wada-Law of Los Gatos in the 300 hurdles and Scott Toney of St. Francis in the Pole Vault.
