2019 Central Coast Section Athletes to Watch

Must-watch athletes at this Saturday's Semifinals.

Colin Peattie Bellarmine/Garrett MacQuiddy Westmont
Last season, Peattie (photo below courtesy of Bellarmine HS) established a new freshman CCS record in the mile with a 1600m. time of 4:16.83. That time was set at the CCS finals where Peattie finished in 4th place just missing a state meet berth. This season, Peattie has quietly established new bests in each of the distance races and seems primed for a big finish to this season. He is entered in both the 1600m and 3200m races and will have an opportunity to win both races.

Now Westmont junior Garrett MacQuiddy (photo below courtesy of @whsathletics) qualified for the state meet last year as a sophomore in the 1600m. and had a best of 4:16.54. He has also established new personal bests in all the distance races this season and will battle with Peattie for the 1600m title. He will also double back against a talented 800m field and may score a tough double that was last achieved by then Bellarmine junior Alex Scales in 2017.
