CIF-SS Division 2-4 Prelims Review

Division 3


At the Division 3 Preliminary meet at Estancia HS in Costa Mesa where the stars performed like stars, none shned brighter than Brayden Borquez, Christian Grubb and Peter Herold among the boys and Lauren Memoly and Daniela Quintero among the girls. 

Borquez (pictured above), a senior at Harvard Westlake headed to USC, had the meet's fastest qualifying time in both the 400 (48.84) and 300 hurdles (38.32), anchored the meet's fastest 4x400 relay (3:22.20) and ran a leg in the 4x100 that qualified with the meet's third-fastest time (42.278). 

Grubb, a senior at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, had the meet's fastest qualifying time in the 100 (10.64), 200 (21.21), had the top mark in the triple jump (46-09/-1.8) and ran second leg on the 4x100 relay that posted the meet's second fastest time (42.277).

Herold, a senior at San Juan Capistrano JSerra headed to UCLA, ran away with the day's best times in both the 1600 (4:18.98) and 3200 (9:17.52). 

Memoly, a sophomore at Santa Margarita Catholic, had the meet's fastest qualifying time in the 400 (57.01), ran a leg on the meet's fastest 4x100 relay team (48.22), qualified third in the long jump (18-01) and anchored the 4x400 relay team that had the meet's third fastest time (4:01.30). 

Daniela Quintero, a freshman at Harvard Westlake, had the top qualifying mark in both the 800 (2:16.51) and the 1600 (5:00.12). Her sister, Natalia Quintero, a sophomore, had the No. 2 mark in the 800 (2:17.27) and No. 4 in the 1600 (5:02.01).
