Division 5 Girls Preview

Teams to Watch

All of our rankings agree that Colfax is the team to beat in this division. The Falcons have an excellent opportunity to advance to Woodward Park, but they can't take it for granted with a solid set of contending teams to push them. In fact, there are several squads with the talent to take the second state meet berth, including Summerville and Buckingham (who are tied in our team scoring from last week's prelims). Capital Christian has strong credentials from the regular season, ranking 2nd in the virtual meet (link below), but they will have to take it up a notch from what they showed at Frogtown if they want to extend their season by two more weeks. Western Sierra and Foresthill are potential sleepers that could steal that coveted 2nd place finish with a strong performance.

Individuals to Watch

This could be one of the best head-to-head individual battles of the day, as Ariana Barrett (Capital Christian) and Sara Sabra (Western Sierra) both come into the weekend with identical 19:16 season bests. The difference is that Sabra ran close to that time last weekend in prelims on a tough course, while Barrett seemed to struggle a bit (or perhaps held back to save for this week?). Keep an eye out for Azalea Prince (Capital Christian), along the Colfax duo of Alyse Sibley and Sierra Hagen.
