One of the top runners in the state of California, Joaquin Martinez De Pinillos from San Diego Cathedral Catholic, has made his college decision.
De Pinillos has verbally committed to run for Wake Forest University next fall.
De Pinillos was the Mt. SAC D3 Boys Sweepstakes champion only a few weekends ago at the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational in Walnut, California. That race was his biggest so far this season, but watch for him to come on strong in the postseason as last year he finished third in the D3 CIF state cross country championships and went on to place 75th at NXN.
The senior told us in an interview after the Mt. SAC Invitational he had narrowed down his colleges to Wake Forest, Villanova and Stanford. Ultimately, he settled on Wake Forest for the size of the school, a program on the rise and overall environment.
