Only ONE Best State Meet in the Country!
Here are some facts about the meet this weekend:
- There are over 39 million people in California, the largest of any state
- Over 100,000 high school athletes compete in track & field in the state
- California only awards ONE state champion in every event (Texas, with over 27 million people, has six divisions with a champion for each).
- California only crowns ONE boys team and ONE girls team as state champions (again, Texas has 6).
When you consider those numbers, it's abundantly clear that the CIF State Meet is the ONE greatest state championship in the country. Being the California state champion is the greatest honor that you can earn in US high school track & field.
